Why saints are central to the Jubilee

Every Holy Year invites the faithful to return to what is essential: faith, penance, reconciliation. Along this journey, the saints play an irreplaceable role. They are not distant figures, but men and women who made faith tangible through courageous choices.
During the Jubilee, the saints:

  • serve as models of virtue, concrete examples to follow;
  • act as spiritual intercessors, to whom prayers are entrusted;
  • foster unity and community, gathering the faithful around their memory;
  • inspire personal devotion through liturgies, processions and prayers;

  • become signs of hope, witnessing that grace can transform every life.

In this way, the saints accompany pilgrims along the Jubilee path, offering consolation and inner strength.

The saints at the heart of Jubilee 2025

  • Saint Peter
    The first pope and apostle of Jesus, martyred in Rome, Saint Peter is the rock on which the Church is built. In the Jubilee, he embodies steadfast faith and the unity of the Christian community.
  • Saint Paul
    From persecutor to tireless missionary, his conversion is a symbol of redemption and new life. Through his letters, Saint Paul continues to guide the Church, and in the Jubilee he calls the faithful to live a dynamic and committed faith.
  • Carlo Acutis
    The young blessed, born in 1991, brought technology and spirituality together with his website on Eucharistic miracles. His canonisation during this Jubilee shows that holiness is close, ordinary, and possible even today.

  • Pier Giorgio Frassati
    Mountaineer, student, volunteer among the poor: his short but intense life is a manifesto of charity and social justice. His canonisation during the Jubilee makes him a model for young people who long for a faith lived out in daily action.

  • Saint Thérèse of Lisieux
    Her “little way” teaches us to find holiness in small, everyday gestures. In the Jubilee, her simplicity becomes an invitation to embrace a sincere and steadfast love for God.
  • Saint John Paul II
    The pope of dialogue and hope, he marked an era by promoting peace and human dignity. Remembering him in Jubilee 2025 means regaining confidence in the future through the testimony of a strong and universal faith.

Saints and pilgrims’ devotion

In 2025, the saints will not only be remembered in history books, but celebrated in liturgies, pilgrimages, and canonisations. The faithful will carry medals and pendants bearing their images—symbols of protection and memory that will accompany them as they cross the Holy Doors and walk the Jubilee routes.
A medal of Saint Peter becomes a sign of faithfulness; a pendant of Saint Paul recalls the mission.

A sign that renews faith

The Jubilee of Hope will also be the Jubilee of the Saints. Their lives remind us that holiness is not a privilege for a few, but a path open to all. Wearing their symbols, keeping their images close, means feeling their presence along the pilgrimage of the Holy Year.
From the courage of Peter and Paul, to the simplicity of Thérèse, to the freshness of Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati—the saints of Jubilee 2025 invite us to live faith as a daily journey of hope and renewal.
